As a Certified Psychoanalyst and Licensed Psychotherapist maintaining a private practice in New York City for almost 20 years, I can attest to the fact that there is a lack of resources specifically tailored to non-traditional clients. Clients with needs having to do with one, or all of the following:
My mission is to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, anytime, regardless of geography, to have access to my services which best suits their needs. In an effort to reach you where you are, I have made available a number of options. Though I have a deep appreciation and respect for traditional structures and methods of psychotherapy, it does not always meet the needs of today's client. The services I offer run the spectrum from online assessments if you are not quite ready to talk to someone, but want to find out more about yourself, to traditional psychotherapy, and everything in between...
Why I Do
What I Do
Have you been scouring the internet, even reaching out to people you know trying to find resources for self-care or mental health, only to run into resources that all seem to look and feel the same?
Well I have heard that concern one too many times from clients like you who've had the same problem. So I decided to use my personal and professional passion and experience to add another dimension to my practice, which will build my services on the foundation of the diversity or your uniqueness. The foundation for my work with you would encompass, Ethnicity, Nationality, Race, Identity, Culture and Heritage, and any other characteristics that’s unique to you. Simply put, my psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic stance will begin on the foundation of who you are and how you see yourself.
As an Immigrant New Yorker, I possess a unique perspective on what “being different” feels like, it occurs in the context of my practice, as well as my daily life and existence. Throughout my academic and professional career finding resources that represents this has been almost impossible. The scarcity of diverse resources deeply impacted what I studied and the psychoanalyst and psychotherapist I am today. Emigrating at a critical point in my own development, I have a deep appreciation for the loss of those qualities/characteristics that define us: Ethnicity, Nationality, Race, Identity, Culture and Heritage. Immigration is not only about a geographic relocation, its about the adjustment across those cultures, and the process is lifelong. In addition to my work with expats, I also work with those who were left behind (left at home) as well as those who have established lives and homes across multiple locations.
What I Could No Longer
I have combined my psychoanalytic training and theories with the contemporary needs of my clients to create effective hybrids. Over the years I have found this method to be most effective and useful to clients. I am devoted to customizing theories and methods to address the specific needs of clients who are ethnically, nationally, racially and culturally diverse. I strongly believe that quality mental health has to be responsive to the evolving needs of todays clients. For me, it simply means, reaching clients where, who and how they are.
What I practice, no pun intended, is what I live on a daily basis, for almost 30 years. I bring with me a lifetime of these experiences, it not a summer in a new exotic land, it has been many summers for the last 30 years. It’s not a year in a new exciting country, it’s 30 of those, with every imaginable experience. Experiences, both positive and negative, happy and sad, intentional and unintentional. Believe me when I say, I see you, I know you and in so many cases I have been you!
