Expats

Sherry understands being an expatriate and a global citizen.

Sherry provides psychological counseling for a broad range of issues, including anxiety and depression, trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, relationship issues, anger and stress management, and life transitions. In addition, Sherry is sophisticated about problems that frequently accompany the expatriate experience - issues such as cultural displacement, dislocation from family, third culture kids, isolation and stress.

Having lived in Washington, DC and New York City for the over 22 years, and having practiced in New York for the past 12 years, Sherry understands what it’s like to be an outsider. For expats living in the caribbean she also understands the trials of moving from a developed country to a developing one.

Quite simply, she understand the unique challenges that are involved with living outside your home culture, and have created a practice expressly to focus on this population.

There are mental health resources available to expatriates in the caribbean. But there are few, if any, who share your language and culture, or have sufficient training or experience to address the issues you are facing. In addition, expatriate communities are frequently small, and seeking care outside the "fishbowl" of this community may be desirable.

Finally, simply getting to an office may be a burden. Receiving care from Sherry means that you can see her face to face if you wish, or you can avoid the logistics of an office visit. Through logging on to the Internet through your computer, you can have access to confidential psychotherapy in the privacy of your home or office.

Sherry works with individuals, couples and adolescents and children

She is available for face to face sessions by appointment only in both New York City and Trinidad & Tobago.
